Defenders: Thomas Meunier, Mats Hummels, Nico Schlotterbeck, Raphael Guerreiro

Nico Schlotterbeck was rested on Tuesday and should return to the starting XI to face the club he spent one season on loan with before making his breakthrough with SC Freiburg. Mats Hummels could start alongside Schlotterbeck in the Borussia Dortmund defence.

Hummels has been in excellent form this season, and he will be in for another tough test on Sunday against Sheraldo Becker and Jordan Siebatcheu.

Both of Borussia Dortmund’s full-backs are doubts going into Sunday’s game, but have traveled to the German capital with the rest of the squad. One of Thomas Meunier and Niklas Süle will likely start at right-back against Union Berlin.

There is optimism that Raphael Guerreiro will be fit to feature on Sunday. But Tom Rothe could come into the starting XI for the second successive game if the Portuguese international is unable to face Union Berlin.
