Borussia Dortmund will make the trip to 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96 for the second round of the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.

The DFB-Pokal makes its return this week, and Borussia Dortmund face a tricky test against 2. Bundesliga side Hannover 96. The Black and Yellows find themselves in a precarious position at the moment, and the promotion hopefuls will be aiming to add to their woes on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund suffered their latest setback on Sunday, losing 2-0 away to Union Berlin. Edin Terzic’s side have slipped to eighth place in the Bundesliga standings. And they go into Wednesday’s DFB-Pokal tie in desperate need of a win.

Hannover 96 ended their two game losing streak by beating Arminia Bielefeld over the weekend. They are fifth in the 2. Bundesliga standings, seven points behind league leaders Darmstadt. Die Roten have a very talented squad that features a number of players with Bundesliga experience. And they will look to pull off a big shock in the DFB-Pokal this week.

This game presents a good opportunity for Edin Terzic to give some of his regular starters a rest. Jude Bellingham and Salih Özcan are both in line for a breather. Anthony Modeste could make his return after missing Sunday’s game. Marius Wolf remains sidelined with an infection, and Marco Reus has also not traveled to Hannover.

Hannover 96 will have to make do without Cedric Teuchert, who suffered an injury in the game against Arminia Bielefeld. Havard Nielsen is their top scorer this season, with six goals to his name.
