Jude Bellingham finished second in the rankings for the 2022 Golden Boy award, with FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi taking home the prize.

FC Barcelona midfielder Gavi has been named the winner of the 2022 Golden Boy award, fending off competition from the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jamal Musiala and Eduardo Camavinga. The award is given to the top performing U-21 player playing in Europe, and is organised by Italian newspaper Tuttosport.

Bellingham finished second in the rankings for the 2022 Golden Boy award, with Camavinga coming in third place and Musiala ranked fourth.

Karim Adeyemi, Youssoufa Moukoko, Gio Reyna, Jayden Braaf, and Ansgar Knauff were also named in the 100-man list of nominees for the 2022 Golden Boy award in June, but did not make it to the top four.

Jude Bellingham is coming off an excellent season with both Borussia Dortmund and the England national team, and has broken a number of records over the last 12 months. He has quickly become one of the best midfielders in the world, and has also taken on a leadership role at Borussia Dortmund this season.

Gavi also won the Kopa Trophy (given to the best performing U-21 player in the world) at the Ballon d’Or awards earlier this week, with Bellingham finishing in fourth place in the rankings. The decision came as a surprise to many, who felt that the England international deserved to win the award.
