Borussia Dortmund put in an emphatic display against VFB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga this weekend as they ran away 5-0 winners at the Westfalenstadion.

Spectators who decided to watch Borussia Dortmund’s encounter with VFB Stuttgart were treated to a goal fest as Dortmund put 5 past the Swabians in what was most certainly their most emphatic attacking display this season. Die Schwarzgelben had been largely criticized this season for the inability to score goals.

The club’s bout with Stuttgart has indeed shown that the club are capable of displays worthy of a Borussia Dortmund side. Goals came from all areas of the pitch as Jude Bellingham, Niklas Süle, Giovanni Reyna and Youssoufa Moukoko got in on the action.

All in all, the team had a very strong outing, and in many ways it was the first time that the squad looked like one complete, cohesive unit this season. Players across the pitch did their jobs quite well, making most of Stuttgart’s attempts to get back into the game just that; no more than attempts.

Stuttgart themselves looked to be lacking a bit of confidence on the pitch, which reflected in their inability to really respond to the goals Dortmund put past them. They came close to getting on the board in the closing stages but the goal was ruled offside, which meant that Swiss shot stopper Gregor Kobel would walk away with a much deserved clean sheet. Dortmund’s number one has continued to put in stellar performances since his return to the starting 11, the performance against Union Berlin aside.

With Dortmund’s season as topsy-turvy as it has been, the result against Stuttgart is one to both celebrate and analyze as the squad have indeed shown they are capable of playing together as a cohesive unit. Lets take a look at some of the key talking points from this emphatic performance.
