Borussia Dortmund reportedly have Eintracht Frankfurt attacking midfielder Jesper Lindstrøm on their list of targets.

Ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s clash with Eintracht Frankfurt this weekend, BILD are indicating that Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Jesper Lindstrøm. The Eintracht Frankfurt star has featured mostly as an attacking midfielder for his side but is also capable of playing on the wing.

Borussia Dortmund’s reported interest comes at an interesting time, as both clubs are separated by just one point going into this weekend’s fixture at the Deutsche Bank Park. Both clubs will be vying for crucial points to make moves up the Bundesliga standings, and Lindstrøm himself may have an important role to play for his current side to make that happen.

Lindstrøm has started the current season strongly, with five goals and one assist in the Bundesliga to his name. He also has an additional goal in the Champions League. His performances have been noticed by Arsenal as well, and BILD claim that RB Leipzig are also interested in his signature.

The tabloid adds that signing Jesper Lindstrøm next summer would cost interested clubs a fee of 30 million euros.

With Lindstrøm’s primary position being attacking midfield, it seems that any attempt BVB would make to sign the Dane would be a peculiar choice of action.

The Black and Yellows are not bereft of players in that particular position. Marco Reus, Gio Reyna and Julian Brandt all occupy this role when fully fit, so it makes one wonder why the club would look to add another player with similar attributes to their squad.

Unless Borussia Dortmund decide to sell one of these aforementioned players (which lets be honest seems highly unlikely) or plan to use Lindstrøm out wide predominantly, his arrival would be a strange move. It remains to be seen whether there is indeed concrete interest, but fans would hope that the club would move to address areas that are in dire need of fresh faces, namely on the wings and of course the full-back positions.
