Karim Adeyemi

Karim Adeyemi is another player who might benefit from Timo Werner’s injury. Compared to Youssoufa Moukoko, Adeyemi has a bit more experience of playing for the national team, which might improve his chances of getting selected for the World Cup. His presence in the final list is still very questionable though, as he has struggled to find his form and consistency since joining Borussia Dortmund this summer. But he is definitely a potential option for Hansi Flick.

Emre Can

Emre Can is unlikely to be an option for the German World Cup squad despite his versatility and combativeness in midfield. The competition for places, combined with the Borussia Dortmund midfielder’s lack of reliability means that he will likely miss the tournament despite being named in the preliminary squad.

Considering the overloading options in defence and midfield, Flick will probably take Can off the final list. He could still be a back-up option in case of injuries, but Can hasn’t represented his country since the European Championships and that is unlikely to change in Qatar.

Jude Bellingham

Jude Bellingham’s place in England’s squad should be a certainty on the back of his recent performances for both club and country. The highly rated Borussia Dortmund player is also likely to be a regular starter for England at the tournament. Jude is not just the future, he is the present. And he could well set the World Cup alight with his performances.

Bellingham has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players this season. The Englishman already has nine goals to his name, and he will have a crucial role to play if the Three Lions are to end their trophy drought next month.
