Dortmund will head to Borussia Mönchengladbach on Friday evening, aiming to get the three points in their final game of the calendar year.

Borussia Dortmund are set to play their final game of 2022 this weekend as they take on Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga. After falling to a disappointing defeat to VfL Wolfsburg on Tuesday, the Black and Yellows will be determined to end their year on a high.

Edin Terzic revealed during his pre-match press conference that Marco Reus is still experiencing pain in his ankle and will miss Friday’s game. He joins the team’s seven long-term absentees on the sidelines.

Gregor Kobel is set to start in goal for Borussia Dortmund on Friday. He has been one of the team’s top performers this season. And he will be eager to keep a clean sheet in the team’s final game of the year.

Rotation appears to be unlikely in defence due to a lack of alternatives. Mats Hummels and Nico Schlotterbeck will likely continue their partnership at centre-back, with Niklas Süle and Raphael Guerreiro set to start as the full-backs. Thorgan Hazard could be a potential option if Terzic decides to rest one of his two full-backs.

Salih Özcan and Jude Bellingham will face a hard fought battle against Manu Koné and Julian Weigl in the middle of the park on Friday. Both players have shown signs of fatigue in recent games. But they will need to be at their best against Gladbach if Borussia Dortmund are to get the three points.

Julian Brandt is expected to start in the number ten role, and will aim to provide the creative spark for his side. Gio Reyna will likely make his return to the starting XI after coming off the bench against Wolfsburg. He could replace Donyell Malen on the left.

Karim Adeyemi could start on the right wing. The 20 year old hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to his Borussia Dortmund career. But he will be full of confidence after being selected in the Germany squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Youssoufa Moukoko has also been named in Germany’s World Cup squad. And he will be aiming to continue his fine run of form in the Bundesliga by finding the back of the net against Gladbach.
