Bundesliga Roundup: SC Freiburg hammer Union Berlin as Bayern Munich continue stunning run

SC Freiburg handed Union Berlin a heavy defeat as Borussia Mönchengladbach crushed Borussia Dortmund on matchday 15 of the Bundesliga season.

The final Bundesliga matchday of 2022 is in the books, and it was certainly a memorable one for SC Freiburg who moved up to second place after beating Union Berlin on Sunday. Vincenzo Grifo scored a hat-trick as Christian Streich’s side made it four wins out of five in the Bundesliga.

Bayern Munich made it ten wins in a row in all competitions as they breezed past Schalke 04. Serge Gnabry and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored either side of half-time to ensure that the Bavarians will take a four point lead into the winter break.

Borussia Dortmund’s woes on both ends of the pitch continued on Friday as they were handed a 4-2 defeat by Borussia Mönchengladbach. Jonas Hofmann, Ramy Bensebaini, Marcus Thuram, and Manu Koné were all on target for the Foals, as Edin Terzic’s side hit the self-destruct button once again.

RB Leipzig are up to third place after seeing off the challenge of Werder Bremen. Goals from Andre Silva and Xaver Schlager helped Leipzig claim a 2-1 win and continue their remarkable unbeaten run under Marco Rose.

VfL Wolfsburg continued their stunning resurgence as they came from behind to beat TSG Hoffenheim 2-1. Christoph Baumgartner gave the home side the lead, before an own goal from Ozan Kabak helped Wolfsburg equalise on the stroke of half time. Ridle Baku then capped off an excellent team move to score what proved to be the winner in the 56th minute.

Fourth placed Eintracht Frankfurt were held to a 1-1 draw by Mainz 05, as Randal Kolo Muani canceled out Jonathan Burkardt’s first half opener.

Bayer Leverkusen continued their encouraging run of form, as they beat VfB Stuttgart 2-0. Moussa Diaby and Jonathan Tah both scored for Xabi Alonso’s side.

Wilfried Kanga and Marco Richter were on target as Hertha Berlin moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over FC Köln. While VfL Bochum made it back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga, as they beat FC Augsburg 1-0 courtesy of Christopher Antwi-Adjei’s goal in the second half.
