Report: Bayern Munich tracking Gregor Kobel’s progress but transfer remains unlikely
Bayern Munich are said to be closely monitoring the progress of Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, but the chances of a transfer are rather slim.
Gregor Kobel has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers this season, and has produced a number of match-winning displays for his side. His performances are said to be attracting the interest of Bayern Munich, with Sky Sport claiming that the defending Bundesliga champions are closely monitoring the development of the Switzerland international.
Bayern Munich are reportedly looking for a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer, who recently extended his contract with the club until 2024. Alexander Nübel (currently on loan at AS Monaco) is facing an uncertain future at Bayern, and so the Bavarians might be tempted to make a move for Kobel in the future.
However, Sky Sport add that the chances of Gregor Kobel joining Bayern Munich are very slim at the moment. The 24 year old joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart last year, and has more than four years left on his current contract. In addition, the Black and Yellows will not want to sell one of their best players to their title rivals. So, the chances of a transfer would be unlikely even if Bayern were to make an offer for Kobel.
Kobel has made a total of 56 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund so far. He is without a doubt one of the top goalkeepers in the Bundesliga, and BVB fans will certainly be hoping that he stays at the club for a long time.
