Borussia Dortmund may look to bring in someone to support Sebastian Kehl after the sporting director’s mixed first transfer window in charge.

Borussia Dortmund made a big splash in the summer transfer window, with Sebastian Kehl overhauling the team after taking over as sporting director following Michael Zorc’s decision to retire at the end of last season. The former BVB captain made a number of shrewd signings, but the new arrivals have not been able to make the desired impact so far.

WAZ are now reporting that the BVB bosses are considering bringing in another strong personality to help out Kehl in the sporting department. The newspaper adds that they may look to bring in someone who can work under Kehl’s leadership, or even on the same level as the 42 year old.

Sebastian Kehl is currently responsible for all the decision making when it comes to the Borussia Dortmund first-team. WAZ add that the circle of decision makers has gotten smaller since Zorc’s retirement.

Edin Terzic is also no longer the technical director as he has taken over as head coach. The influence of external advisor Matthias Sammer is considered to be low. While CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke has been dealing with more non football-related matters in recent months, and has not been able to spend much time with the team (as he also revealed last week).

It was also reported last year that Borussia Dortmund are considering bringing in someone to help support Sebastian Kehl. The likes of Sven Mislintat were linked with the role then, but nothing materialised in the end.
