Predicted Germany lineup for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Five Borussia Dortmund players are in the Germany squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Here we take a look at Hansi Flick’s potential starting XI for the tournament.

The start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup is less than a week away and there is plenty of excitement for the tournament in Qatar. Germany will begin their campaign against Japan next Wednesday, before going up against Spain and Costa Rica in Group E.

Hansi Flick sprang a number of surprises when he announced his final 26-man squad for the World Cup. And it will certainly be interesting to see what his ideal starting XI is for the tournament.

There are five Borussia Dortmund players in Germany’s World Cup squad. Niklas Süle, Nico Schlotterbeck, Julian Brandt, Karim Adeyemi and Youssoufa Moukoko will all be aiming to make an impression in the coming days to win a place in the Germany starting XI. Moukoko has earned his first senior call-up and could make his competitive debut for his country at the World Cup.

Predicted Germany XI for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is set to start in goal for Germany at the World Cup. Even at the age of 36, he remains one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

Niklas Süle and Antonio Rüdiger are expected to start as the two centre-backs, and the former could also be an option for the right-back role after impressing there for Borussia Dortmund. Although Thilo Kehrer appears to be the top candidate to start at right-back. RB Leipzig’s David Raum will likely start at left-back.

Joshua Kimmich will have a crucial role to play if Germany are to be successful at the World Cup. He will start in the number six role, with one of Ilkay Gündogan and Leon Goretzka likely partnering him in the middle of the park. Jamal Musiala is enjoying a stunning breakthrough season with Bayern and is set to start in the number ten role for Germany.

Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry will be the first-choice starters out wide, with Kai Havertz an option for the number nine role in Timo Werner’s absence. Thomas Müller, Youssoufa Moukoko and Niclas Füllkrug could also start up front for Hansi Flick’s side.
