Predicted United States lineup for the 2022 FIFA World Cup

With Gio Reyna and Christian Pulisic leading the way, the United States men’s national team will be aiming to spring a few surprises at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Here we take a look at their potential starting XI for the tournament.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is about to get underway in Qatar, and 11 Borussia Dortmund players will be in action for their respective countries at the tournament. The United States will begin their World Cup campaign against Wales, before facing England and Iran in Group B.

Borussia Dortmund attacking midfielder Gio Reyna has been named in the USMNT’s final World Cup squad. Former BVB winger Christian Pulisic, now at Chelsea, will also be crucial to the United States’ hopes of making a deep run in Qatar.

Arsenal goalkeeper Matt Turner is expected to start in goal for the USMNT, with Sergiño Dest the likeliest option at right-back ahead of Joe Scally. Tim Ream has been in fine form for Fulham this season, and could start at centre-back alongside Walker Zimmerman. Antonee Robinson is set to line up at left-back.

Former RB Leipzig midfielder Tyler Adams should play in the number six role, with Weston McKennie and the highly rated Yunus Musah set to partner him in midfield.

Christian Pulisic and Gio Reyna are expected to start out wide, with Brenden Aaronson and Timothy Weah also in contention to feature.
