Jude Bellingham made history in England’s World Cup opener as he became the second youngest player to ever score for them in the tournament.
Jude Bellingham enjoyed a dream start to the 2022 FIFA World Cup as he opened England’s account in the tournament with a sublime header against Iran. The goal helped the Borussia Dortmund midfielder become the second youngest player to score a World Cup goal for England after Michael Owen. The goal was also Bellingham’s first in an England shirt.
After a cagey start to their World Cup opener against Iran, England took the lead in the 35th minute through Bellingham. The midfielder did really well to get on the end of Luke Shaw’s cross before sending a looping header into the back of the net. It was a special moment for Bellingham, who was making his 18th appearance for England.
Bellingham’s goal helped open up the floodgates for England, who raced to a three goal lead going into the break. Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka made it 2-0 before Bellingham helped set up the Three Lions’ third goal, which was scored by Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling.
It has been an incredible season so far for Jude Bellingham, who has established himself as one of the best young midfielders in the world. The 19 year old has nine goals and three assists to his name in 22 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund. He has also taken on a leadership role in the team, and was named the club’s third captain before the start of the season.
