It will be win or go home for Germany as they take on Costa Rica in their final group stage game of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Germany will be aiming to clinch their place in the round of 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup as they take on Costa Rica on Thursday. Hansi Flick’s side need a win to have any chance of making it to the knockout rounds. And even that may not be enough as they will need a favourable result from Spain’s match against Japan to progress to the last 16.

Having suffered a group stage exit at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Germany will be eager to qualify for the round of 16 this time around. And Hansi Flick may look to change things up, with Niclas Füllkrug an option for the starting XI after scoring a late equaliser in the 1-1 draw against Spain on Sunday.

Leroy Sané could also make his return to the starting XI after recovering from his knee injury. The Bayern Munich winger came off the bench against Spain.

Costa Rica will be on a high after earning a 1-0 win over Japan. They are also in contention to qualify for the round of 16. And they will certainly offer Germany a tough test on Thursday. Costa Rica will be without defender Francisco Calvo, who is suspended.

Keylor Navas played a key role in Costa Rica’s win over Japan. And the veteran goalkeeper will be crucial to his side’s hopes once again on Thursday.
