Jude Bellingham delivered another masterful performance on the World Cup stage on Sunday evening to help England qualify for the quarterfinals.
The Jude Bellingham show continued in Qatar on Sunday as he delivered another scintillating performance to help England beat Senegal in the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Borussia Dortmund midfielder carried his nation on his shoulders and helped set up two first-half goals, setting the tone for a comfortable 3-0 win.
It was Bellingham’s sheer will and determination that made England’s first goal happen. With the Three Lions struggling to gain control, Bellingham grabbed the game by the scruff of its neck. The highly rated midfielder made a fine run into the box and set up a lovely pass for Jordan Henderson.
The goal helped Bellingham become the first teenager to assist a goal in the knockout stage of the FIFA World Cup. He also became the first teenager since Lionel Messi to score and assist a World Cup goal.
Bellingham’s hard graft before England’s second goal was even more special. He made another excellent forward run, this time battling his way past three Senegal players, before finding Phil Foden who then teed up Harry Kane.
Jude Bellingham’s performance against Senegal was nothing new for Borussia Dortmund fans, who have seen him provide game-changing moments week in, week out in the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League this season. The 19 year old has been one of BVB’s top performers this season, leading the team from the front with his exemplary performances in midfield.
Bellingham is well on his way to becoming one of the best midfielders in the world. And another very exciting test awaits him and England in the quarterfinals as they take on defending champions France.
