Loser: Donyell Malen

Donyell Malen scored Borussia Dortmund’s first goal of the 2022/23 season, netting in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. It was thought that his excellent performance against 1860 Munich would be a sign of things to come. But he hasn’t been able to make much of an impact or find the back of the net in a competitive game since then.

The 23 year old, who joined Borussia Dortmund last year from PSV Eindhoven amid high expectations, did show glimpses of his quality in the first half of the season. But his poor finishing and lethargic play often left fans and the BVB bosses frustrated.

Malen also lost his place in the Netherlands squad as a result. And now a massive second half of the season lies in store for him as he looks to get his Borussia Dortmund career back on track.
