Youssoufa Moukoko appears set to stay at Borussia Dortmund, with the two parties close to reaching an agreement in principle over a new contract.
Youssoufa Moukoko’s future has been the subject of plenty of speculation in recent weeks. But it looks like a resolution is finally in sight, with Ruhr Nachrichten reporting that the striker is close to reaching an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund over an extension to his contract.
A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Moukoko in recent weeks, including Chelsea who are said to be eyeing a move for the striker. But Ruhr Nachrichten claim that the Londoners have not made a serious push for Moukoko yet. The newspaper does add that Moukoko’s contract extension with Borussia Dortmund will not be finalised before the end of the month.
Youssoufa Moukoko is enjoying a breakthrough campaign with Borussia Dortmund and has established himself as the team’s first-choice striker. The 18 year old has six goals and four assists to his name in just 14 Bundesliga appearances this season. And his performances also helped him earn a spot in Germany’s squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Moukoko’s current contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the season. But he said last month that he would like to stay with the Black and Yellows, as long as he gets the playing time he needs to continue his development.
Moukoko is considered to be one of the most talented young strikers in Europe. And the hope at Borussia Dortmund will certainly be that he stays at the club for years to come.
