Winter Review: Borussia Dortmund’s best and worst performers of the season so far
Jude Bellingham
Jude Bellingham’s name comes as no surprise to anybody who has had a read on the pulse of the football world for the last three seasons. Bellingham continues to improve on what is an already elite skill set and has taken further steps into the role of leadership. Even for BVB’s youth standards, to be assigned impactful leadership expectations to the degree that Jude receives them is unheard of. This speaks more to the outrageous quality of the player and the person more than anything else.
This season has already seen him captain his team at just 19 years old, start every game for his country in the World Cup, and continue to demonstrate a truly rare combination of natural talent that is coupled with an equally impressive mental approach. One of the more notable steps that he’s taken on the pitch has been his improvement in front of goal.
Already with nine goals to his name, he’ll be looking to lead Borussia Dortmund past a struggling Chelsea in the Champions League and spark a resurgence in the league campaign that is desperately required. Those within the club who are falling below the mark don’t need to look any further for an image to attempt to mirror in the second half of the season.
