Sebastien Haller was delighted to get on the scoresheet after netting a hat-trick for Borussia Dortmund in their friendly match against FC Basel on Friday.

Sebastien Haller made an emphatic impact on Friday afternoon as he scored a stunning hat-trick to help Borussia Dortmund claim a 6-0 win in their mid-season friendly match against FC Basel. The Ivory Coast international needed just seven minutes to find the back of the net three times, as he showed his quality in front of goal in what was only his second game since his return to football.

Speaking after the game, Haller hailed his teammates and the team spirit at Borussia Dortmund. He added that he wants to keep pushing and help his side as much as he can in the second half of the season.

"“It’s the best possible feeling: to come back, score goals, and help the team, to feel the body improve day after day. I think it’s the best thing that I could have imagined, not only for myself but also for the team. We will try to keep pushing like this, keep working together. I hope that I can be effective and useful for the team.”“I think (the fact that every BVB player came to celebrate his first goal with him) it shows the spirit of the team. No matter what happens on the pitch, we don’t forget that we are all human beings and that it is really important that we stick together.”“They knew it wasn’t an easy situation for me and that for a striker to come back and score goals is the best feeling ever. I appreciate that they were happy for me and I hope I can score more goals for them.”"

Haller was diagnosed with testicular cancer during pre-season and had to undergo two surgeries and a chemotherapy treatment. The 28 year old worked hard during the winter break and made his return to training earlier this month. He celebrated his comeback in the friendly match against Fortuna Düsseldorf on Tuesday, and got 30 more minutes under his belt against FC Basel.

Edin Terzic was also full of praise of Haller after Friday’s game. He hailed the striker’s quality in the box, and said that the goals will do his confidence a whole lot of good.

"“You could see how pleased he was after scoring the penalty, how happy the boys were for him. You could also see the quality he has in the opposition penalty area.”"
