Niklas Süle not giving up on Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of winning the Bundesliga title

Niklas Süle believes that Borussia Dortmund are still in the race to win the Bundesliga title despite going into the second half of the season nine points behind league leaders Bayern Munich.
Preparations are in full swing ahead of the start of the second half of the season. Borussia Dortmund will resume their Bundesliga campaign with a home game against FC Augsburg next weekend. And Niklas Süle is remaining optimistic about their title hopes ahead of the Rückrunde.
Süle, who joined Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer from Bayern Munich last summer, said in an interview with Welt am Sonntag:
"“If we were to win the two remaining games in the first half of the season, we would be back up there with the frontrunners. I can still remember that BVB was once nine points ahead of Bayern and in the end Bayern won the championship.”"
Borussia Dortmund have found it difficult to get going in the Bundesliga so far, and find themselves in sixth place going into the second half of the season. The Black and Yellows have already suffered six defeats in 15 Bundesliga matches, which is far too many for a team with title ambitions.
Borussia Dortmund are currently nine points behind Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga standings with 19 games remaining in the current season. And they will have it all to do in the second half of the season if they want to catch the defending Bundesliga champions in the table. Although Manuel Neuer’s season ending injury could well help their cause.
Niklas Süle will certainly have a key role to play in the second half of the season as Borussia Dortmund look to hunt down his former employers. The defender will likely be asked to play at right-back in the coming weeks to fill in for the injured Thomas Meunier.
