Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has said that Youssoufa Moukoko can either accept the club’s latest offer or leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Youssoufa Moukoko’s contract with Borussia Dortmund is set to expire at the end of the season and a decision on his future is fast approaching. It is widely expected that the highly rated striker will make the final decision on his future this week. Now Sebastian Kehl has had his say on the situation.
In an interview with Kicker, the Borussia Dortmund sporting director has said that he hopes Moukoko will extend his contract with the club. But the BVB bosses will not be making any further improvements to their contract offer for the Germany international.
"“We have made him a very attractive offer that gives him plenty of potential for development. We want him to make a decision. He has to make that with his entourage and his agent.”“Youssoufa can now accept this offer and commit his future to Borussia Dortmund – or our paths will part. I would like to see him stay with us, because his development is not yet complete and I see huge potential in him. But there are limits for us as a club. Now it’s up to him to make a decision in a timely manner.”"
Moukoko said in November that his preference would be to stay at Borussia Dortmund. But several top clubs in Europe are said to be interested in signing him on a free transfer, including the likes of Chelsea, FC Barcelona, Manchester United and Newcastle United.
It was reported last week that after several weeks of difficult negotiations, the BVB bosses and Moukoko’s agent are finally close to reaching an agreement over a new contract. And the 18 year old is expected to sign a new four year contract with the Black and Yellows.
Youssoufa Moukoko is enjoying a breakthrough season at Borussia Dortmund, and has established himself as the team’s first-choice striker. He has scored six goals and assisted a further four in 14 Bundesliga appearances so far this season.
