Three reasons why Borussia Dortmund should extend Marco Reus’ contract

Marco Reus Is Still Performing at the top level

Over the last few years, we have seen an increase in players remaining at the top level in the latter stages of their career. The same can also be said about Marco Reus, who continues to set the world alight with his performances.

Last season, Reus directly contributed to 26 goals in 29 league appearances. So far this season, he has seven goal contributions in 12 appearances across all competitions.

Although the club’s structure is to continuously usher in a young and energetic generation of players, having Reus’ presence, along with Mats Hummels, is necessary to guide them and be a point of reference.

Since joining Borussia Dortmund, Marco Reus has helped the club win three DFL-Supercups and two DFB-Pokal titles. He is as determined as ever to win the Bundesliga title, and has made it clear in the past that he would like to stay with the club until the end of his playing career. BVB should repay their captain’s loyalty and commitment with a contract extension.
