Borussia Dortmund have extended the contract of Youssoufa Moukoko, with the highly rated striker putting pen to paper on a new three and a half year deal.

Youssoufa Moukoko has put an end to all the speculation about his future by signing a new contract with Borussia Dortmund that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season. The 18 year old signed his new contract on Saturday, and said that he is now ready to take the next steps in his development at the club.

"“It’s no secret that I feel at home at BVB,” Moukoko said. “I played in the youth teams, took my first steps in professional football here and now I’m ready to take the next step in my development together with the club. I feel the trust of the coaching staff and I have an environment here where I can develop in the perfect way.”"

Moukoko’s previous contract was set to expire at the end of the current season, and the likes of Chelsea, FC Barcelona and Newcastle United were interested in signing him. There were fears that he could leave the club on a free transfer in the summer. But the Germany international ultimately decided to stay at Borussia Dortmund. And he said that his decision to stay at the club was made from the heart.

"“Of course, I was honored by the interest of other clubs, but ultimately it’s a decision from the heart. The fans have always supported me, and I also want to give something back to them and the club.”"

With his future now sorted, Moukoko can look ahead to the start of the second half of the season. The striker scored six goals and assisted a further four in 14 Bundesliga appearances in the first half of the season. And he will be determined to continue his fine run of form in the coming months.
