Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 4-3 win over Augsburg
By Tushar Bahl
Donyell Malen (4/10)
After his encouraging performances during Borussia Dortmund’s mid-season friendlies, there was hope that the tide might be turning for Donyell Malen. But the Dutchman endured a difficult time against Augsburg and failed to get involved in the game (aside from a rather tame effort in the first half).
Karim Adeyemi (5/10)
Much like the first half of the season, Adeyemi flattered to deceive against Augsburg. He made an encouraging start and was involved in some lovely link-up play. But he often lacked that final pass or shot required to make a telling impact.
Youssoufa Moukoko (4/10)
Fresh after signing a contract extension with Borussia Dortmund, Moukoko had his side’s first real chance against Augsburg. But he couldn’t make clean contact with the ball and fired his shot wide. He was kept fairly quiet after that and managed to touch the ball just ten times in 61 minutes.
Sebastien Haller (6/10)
Haller made an emotional return to competitive football and made his competitive debut for Borussia Dortmund. He showed glimpses of his quality and had some neat touches in and around the box.
Jamie Bynoe-Gittens (7/10)
Bynoe-Gittens came off the bench and played a crucial role in Borussia Dortmund’s win. He created his goal almost on his own, dribbling his way past two defenders before brilliantly finding the back of the net after cutting inside from the left wing.
Gio Reyna (7/10)
Gio Reyna came up with the all-important winner for Borussia Dortmund. The USMNT international’s finish was simply sublime. And the goal will no doubt come as a big relief for him after a difficult couple of months.
