It will be interesting to see if Edin Terzic decides to make any changes to the Borussia Dortmund defence that conceded three goals against Augsburg on Sunday.
Niklas Süle could come into the team in place of Nico Schlotterbeck, who had a very difficult time defensively against Augsburg.
Mats Hummels is one yellow card away from suspension so he will be keen to avoid getting booked against Mainz, ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s crunch game against Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday.
Julian Ryerson should start at right-back once again on Wednesday on the back of his encouraging debut against Augsburg. Raphael Guerreiro will play at left-back, and will have a key role to play going forward.
