Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 2-1 win over Mainz 05
Donyell Malen [4/10]
Lousy, uninspired, and dull are words fitting of Malen’s game against Mainz. For the second game straight, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens replaced the Dutchman and showed a much brighter spark than him. The clock is ticking for Malen and if his performances don’t improve soon, he could find himself on the bench or worse, on his way out of the club by June.
Karim Adeyemi [5/10]
Another player who is coming under increasing scrutiny is Karim Adeyemi. For most of the game, Adeyemi seemed to be rather out of sync and unsure of what to do once the ball was at his feet. The second half saw a bit of improvement, but it still wasn’t enough to make a difference. Adeyemi was finally subbed out for Marius Wolf in the 76th minute.
Youssoufa Moukoko [4/10]
Another player who had a difficult time in the Borussia Dortmund attack is Youssoufa Moukoko. The 18 year old striker had the opportunity to put Dortmund back in the lead but neglected Adeyemi’s better position and instead took a shot on goal which the goalkeeper easily saved. That was his only real chance, and he was replaced by Sébastien Haller in the second half.
