Borussia Dortmund will look to make it three wins out of three since the Bundesliga restart as they make the trip to Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.

Borussia Dortmund are set to go head to head against Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen this weekend in what will likely be their toughest test of 2023 so far. Both teams have plenty of attacking quality in their ranks, and we should be in for a pulsating game on Sunday.

Games between these two teams almost always come with a guarantee of goals. Although Marco Reus’ tap in was enough to seal the win for Borussia Dortmund when these two sides met on matchday one of the season. The BVB captain could make his comeback to the squad this weekend after returning to training following a bout of illness.

Jude Bellingham is also set to return for Borussia Dortmund after missing Wednesday’s game against Mainz through suspension. But new signing Julien Duranville is still recovering from the injury he suffered late last year, and will miss the trip to Leverkusen. Gio Reyna and Mats Hummels could come into the starting XI for Edin Terzic’s side.

Bayer Leverkusen have undergone a number of changes since the last meeting between these two sides. They are now coached by Xabi Alonso, who has overseen an upturn in form. Die Werkself are currently on a five game winning run in the Bundesliga and have climbed up to eighth place in the standings.

Leverkusen will be without Charles Aranguiz on Sunday, while Patrik Schick is a doubt and a decision on his availability will be made closer to the game.
