Borussia Dortmund will look to sign Iván Fresneda in the summer of 2023, per RN, after missing out on the player in the winter transfer window.

With the winter transfer window coming to a close, so too have Dortmund’s chances of signing Iván Fresneda this season. The Spanish talent, who currently plays for Real Valladolid, opted to stay in Spain until the end of the season. Both Arsenal and Dortmund had agreed a 15 million euros fee for the right back, but a move did not materialize.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Dortmund’s interest in the player has not diminished in the slightest. Die Schwarzgelben still see Fresneda as one of their primary targets, particularly because the right back position at the club is still one that needs additional quality.

Of course, there is always the risk that the summer transfer window may see additional suitors line up for Fresneda services, especially if he continues to perform at his current level for the rest of the La Liga season with Valladolid. When compared to players from the top 5 leagues that play in a similar position, Fresneda’s stats are exemplary despite his young age. The player has excelled in terms of tackles, interceptions and clearances, putting him in the 89th percentile or higher over the course of the last year.

While it remains to be seen where the player player will eventually end up, it is very much clear as to why Dortmund seemingly pushed so hard to complete the signing before the close of the transfer window. There are still some claims that Dortmund is the players preferred destination, which will make Fresneda the focus of continued transfer speculation in the coming months.
