Edin Terzić and Borussia Dortmund applaud Julian Brandt’s development

Borussia Dortmund head coach Edin Terzić has spoken very highly of Julian Brandt and his development at the club in a recent press conference.

Life at Borussia Dortmund hasn’t been all smooth sailing for Julian Brandt. From some early injury concerns to dips in form, and even losing his starting position in the side, Brandt’s time with Dortmund has been turbulent.

As of this season however, Brandt is very much starting to live up to the potential that made his such an exciting target back in 2019. He has gone from being a player that was known for losing the ball innocuously to stringing together some of Dortmund’s most beautiful sequences this season, and becoming one of the club’s most reliable and important players.

Edin Terzić recently highlighted this in a recent press conference, stating that he and the club are very happy with how far Brandt has come:

"“We are pleased with the development. It’s not just in terms of play, but also in the physical area. The toughness is another area where he’s taken a significant step forward.”"

With the return of Marco Reus seemingly imminent, there were some early concerns that both players would not get enough time on the pitch. Terzić quelled such thoughts by stating there there is no problem with having both directly involved in the starting 11:

"“Julian can also be on the pitch with Marco Reus. We’re flexible here, both can play in the center and on the wing. The two get along well on and off the pitch.“"

While it has been quite a long time coming, it is extremely refreshing to see Brandt excel in Dortmund and build on the momentum he gained under Marco Rose the season prior. An exemplary player when at it best, we can hope that his performances continue to be a positive facet of Dortmund’s play and that he can maintain this form for an even more extended run.
