Karim Adeyemi relishing the competition for places at Borussia Dortmund
Karim Adeyemi has said that he is relishing the competition for places that is developing at Borussia Dortmund with the majority of the squad fully fit again.
Borussia Dortmund’s strength in depth has really started to show in recent weeks, with players making a big impact off the bench. With the majority of the first-team squad now fit and available for selection, Edin Terzic has been forced into making some very difficult decisions.
But Karim Adeyemi believes that the competition for places can only be a good thing for the Black and Yellows.
"“Everyone is at 100% now,” Adeyemi said. “Having a big squad is important. The competition for places is nice. It gets boring when you know you’re always playing and you don’t have to fight for your spot.”"
The competition of places appears to be bringing the best out of every Borussia Dortmund player at the moment. Karim Adeyemi, who managed just two goals in the first half of the season, already has two goals and an assist to his name in four games since the turn of the year.
Borussia Dortmund’s current squad situation is in complete contrast to the first half of the season, when several key players were forced to spend considerable time on the sidelines.
That, combined with the team’s gruelling fixture list, made it very difficult for the available players to perform at the highest level on a consistent basis. But now there appears to be some real freshness and a new energy in the team.
We have already seen the impact having quality options on the bench can make for a team in recent games. And the hope will be that Borussia Dortmund can steer clear of injuries in the second half of the season.
