Sebastien Haller spoke about his delight after finally ending his long wait to score his first competitive goal for Borussia Dortmund.

Saturday was a special day for Sebastien Haller as he scored his first competitive goal for Borussia Dortmund during their 5-1 win over SC Freiburg. And the striker said after the game that the goal is something he had been waiting for since day one.

"In an interview with Sky Sport, Haller said: “It means a lot to me. I’ve been waiting for this moment since day one. I’m just happy and I hope that I also made some people happy with my goal. There is a long way to go, I’ll keep working and hoping to score more goals.”“As a striker when you score goals, this feeling is just the best. I felt like I was flying, like I was on a cloud. When I scored I felt like the whole stadium was on fire. Not only the stadium but also my teammates, the staff, everyone just came together as one. It means a lot, it gives me a big boost. I hope that we’ll get more moments like that with even more goals.”"

Just weeks after completing his move to Borussia Dortmund from Ajax, Sebastien Haller was diagnosed with testicular cancer and was forced to miss the entire first half of the season. But he worked incredibly hard for his comeback and made a stunning return to competitive football last month.

The game against Freiburg marked the 28 year old’s fourth appearance for the Black and Yellows. And he showed his quality by getting on the end of Raphael Guerreiro’s cross and sending the ball into the back of the net with a powerful header.

Sebastien Haller’s goal was met with rapturous applause and cheers from everyone at the Signal Iduna Park. And the Borussia Dortmund players also rushed to celebrate with the striker. Sporting director Sebastian Kehl said that everyone at Borussia Dortmund is delighted for Haller after his first competitive goal for the club.

"“Sebastien Haller has been working towards this for a long time. We are all delighted. Now a huge burden is lifted off his shoulders.”"
