Borussia Dortmund U-19s are through to the UEFA Youth League round of 16 after a 90th minute winner from Hendry Blank helped them beat Hibernian on Tuesday.

Borussia Dortmund U-19s continued their remarkable run in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday by coming from behind and earning a 2-1 win away to Scottish side Hibernian in the play-offs. Second half goals from Julian Rijkhoff and Hendry Blank helped the young Black and Yellows turn the game around after Jacob Blasey had given Hibernian the lead in the first half.

Mike Tullberg’s side struggled early on and fell behind mid-way through the first half in Edinburgh. Jacob Blasey got on the end of a brilliantly whipped free-kick and headed the ball into the back of the net to give Hibernian the lead.

Borussia Dortmund U-19s responded well to going behind, but they had to wait until the 70th minute to get their reward. A handball inside the box from Hibernian resulted in a penalty for BVB, which Julian Rijkhoff coolly converted to make it 1-1.

Borussia Dortmund dominated the game after that and pushed hard for the winning goal. And it finally arrived in the 90th minute, when Paris Brunner made an excellent run down the left flank and dribbled his way past two defenders before cutting the ball back to Hendry Blank, who found the bottom corner with a well taken first-time finish.

Hibernian nearly equalised in the 96th minute, but a fantastic save from Silas Ostrzinski helped BVB see out the win.

It was an emphatic turnaround from the Borussia Dortmund U-19s, who are now through to the round of 16 of the UEFA Youth League for the second season in a row.
