Sebastian Kehl believes that Borussia Dortmund will go into their UEFA Champions League tie against Chelsea with plenty of confidence.

Borussia Dortmund are set to go up against Chelsea next week in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie. And Sebastian Kehl believes that with the quality in the BVB squad, they have every chance of standing toe to toe with the English Premier League side.

Borussia Dortmund made it five wins in five games since the turn of the year on Wednesday, as they beat VfL Bochum 2-1 to progress to the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal. Goals from Emre Can and Marco Reus helped the Black and Yellows secure a hard fought win away from home.

After the game, Kehl praised the BVB players for the fight they showed and said that the win will give them a lot of confidence. The BVB sporting director also looked ahead to the team’s upcoming games against Werder Bremen and Chelsea.

"“We now have five wins in a row, which gives us a lot of confidence,” Kehl told ZDF. “Now we have two exciting games coming up against Bremen and Chelsea. We’re still in all three competitions, we’re a force to be reckoned with.”“We have improved significantly since November, and we had to. The quality in the team is there. So I think that with all the possibilities that this squad offers, we also have a great opportunity to progress against Chelsea.”"

The lead-up to the UEFA Champions League tie between Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea has been dominated by the English Premier League side’s high spending in the transfer market. Chelsea spent more than 300 million euros in the January transfer window alone, and have a number of quality players in their squad.
