Werder Bremen vs Borussia Dortmund: Team News
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to continue their winning run this weekend as they go up against Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga.
A hard fought battle against Bundesliga top scorer Niclas Füllkrug and Werder Bremen awaits Borussia Dortmund on Saturday afternoon as they look to keep pace with their title rivals. The Black and Yellows could not have asked for a better start to 2023. But they will need to be at their best once again if they want to get the three points in Bremen.
The sting of the reverse fixture will still be fresh in the minds of the Borussia Dortmund players. Werder Bremen pulled off the most improbable of comebacks to beat Edin Terzic’s side when the two teams last met on Matchday 3. And Borussia Dortmund will be eager to ensure that they do not make the same mistakes on Saturday.
Borussia Dortmund will be without Karim Adeyemi on Saturday. The forward is serving a one-match suspension after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season last weekend. Thomas Meunier, Mateu Morey and Julien Duranville are also set to miss the game. Marius Wolf has also not made the trip to Bremen.
Werder Bremen are enjoying an impressive return to the Bundesliga, and are in eighth place in the standings going into the game. They will be without the injured Felix Agu and suspended Marco Friedl on Saturday. January signing Maximilian Philipp is set to feature against his former club.
