Edin Terzic has heaped praise on Emre Can following the midfielder’s impressive performances for Borussia Dortmund in recent games.

Emre Can is enjoying quite a renaissance at Borussia Dortmund. The midfielder has forced his way back into the BVB starting XI and is finally starting to rediscover the form that we saw from him when he first joined the club in January 2020.

Edin Terzic was quick to laud the former Liverpool and Juventus player when asked about his importance on Thursday. The BVB head coach praised Emre Can for working hard in training and establishing himself as an extremely important player in the team.

During the pre-match press conference ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen, Terzic said:

"“He has not only played his way into the team, but has also worked very hard on his fitness. The role he is playing at the moment in front of the central defence is very important.”“In attack, he can play from the number six role, but also between the centre-backs. He’s doing that exceptionally well right now. He feels comfortable, and the goal also will also give him more confidence. A confident and fit Emre Can can help any team.”"

Can struggled for form and fitness issues for much of last season. And he also failed to make much of an impact in the first half of this season.

But he has looked a lot more confident and assured since the winter break. And he also scored his first goal of the season on Wednesday with an excellent strike from the half-way line.

Emre Can finding his form is great news for Borussia Dortmund, who have been searching for a consistently reliable presence in defensive midfield for some time now. The upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea will be a great test of his composure. And a strong performance from him would really boost BVB’s hopes of making it to the quarterfinals.
