Edin Terzic: Youssoufa Moukoko’s injury ‘does not look good’

Youssoufa Moukoko could face a long spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday.
Youssoufa Moukoko was forced to come off during the first half of Borussia Dortmund’s 2-0 win against Werder Bremen on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury. The young striker was on the receiving end of a crunching challenge from Leonardo Bittencourt. And now he may be sidelined for some time.
Edin Terzic was asked for an update about Moukoko’s injury after the game. And while the Borussia Dortmund head coach did not have an exact diagnosis yet, he did say that the injury does not look good.
"“Unfortunately, it doesn’t look too good,” Terzic said during his post-match press conference. “We don’t have a diagnosis yet, so we’ll probably have to wait until Monday. We’re keeping our fingers crossed for him.”"
Losing Youssoufa Moukoko through injury for any period would be a big blow for Borussia Dortmund. While the 18 year old hasn’t managed to score yet since the turn of the year, he was one of the Black and Yellows’ top performers in the first half of the season.
The Germany international, who recently extended his contract with BVB, has scored six goals in 18 Bundesliga appearances this season.
Borussia Dortmund have a number of big games coming up over the next few weeks, including both legs of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea.
Sebastien Haller came on to replace Moukoko against Werder Bremen. And the Ivory Coast international will likely start up front against Chelsea on Wednesday. Anthony Modeste is the other striker in the Borussia Dortmund squad, although he has largely only been used off the bench in recent games.
