The knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League is upon us and Borussia Dortmund are set go up against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund face their biggest test of 2023 so far on Wednesday evening as they host Chelsea in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie. The stage is set for a very exciting contest between two quality teams, and we could be in for a hard fought battle at the Westfalenstadion.

The Black and Yellows go into the game on the back of six straight wins in all competitions. And they will welcome Karim Adeyemi back into the squad on Wednesday after he missed the last two games through suspension.

Youssoufa Moukoko will miss the game after picking up an injury against Werder Bremen on Saturday. Julien Duranville and Mateu Morey are also sidelined, while Marius Wolf is a doubt. Sebastien Haller will likely start in attack in Moukoko’s absence.

Chelsea are dealing with a number of injury problems at the moment. Graham Potter’s side will have to make do without former Borussia Dortmund winger Christian Pulisic, as well as N’Golo Kante, Edouard Mendy, and Armando Broja on Wednesday. While Raheem Sterling, Mateo Kovacic, Wesley Fofana and Denis Zakaria are all doubts ahead of the game.

Former BVB striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been left out of Chelsea’s squad for the Champions League knockout rounds. New signings Enzo Fernández, Mykhailo Mudryk and João Félix are likely to start for Chelsea on Wednesday.
