Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Youssoufa Moukoko for the next six weeks after the striker sustained an ankle injury during the game against Werder Bremen.
Youssoufa Moukoko had to be substituted during Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Werder Bremen on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury. The young striker will now be sidelined for the next six weeks, and will be forced to miss a number of crucial games as a result.
Moukoko injured his ankle after being fouled by Werder Bremen player Leonardo Bittencourt on Saturday. Edin Terzic said after the game that the injury does not look too good. And Sebastian Kehl revealed on Monday that the 18 year old has sustained a tear in his ankle ligament.
Borussia Dortmund have a number of big games coming up over the next six weeks, including both legs of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Chelsea and their Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig.
The Black and Yellows will be hoping to have Youssoufa Moukoko fit and ready to return after next month’s international break. Edin Terzic’s side are set to face Bayern Munich away from home on April 1. And if his recovery goes according to plan, Moukoko could potentially make his return to the squad in time for that game.
Sebastien Haller and Anthony Modeste will likely share the workload up front in Youssoufa Moukoko’s absence. Modeste has largely only been used off the bench in recent months. But he may have a bigger role to play in the team in the coming games.
