Borussia Dortmund are ready to extend Julian Brandt’s contract following the playmaker’s upturn in form in recent months.

Julian Brandt is enjoying his best season in a Borussia Dortmund shirt and has established himself as one of the team’s most important players. The German international is in excellent form at the moment. And the Black and Yellows are keen to offer him a long-term contract extension.

This is being reported by Sport1, who add that the BVB bosses have been left very impressed by Brandt’s recent performances. The 26 year old’s current contract is set to expire in less than 18 months. The report adds that Brandt can also imagine extending his stay in Dortmund. And initial talks over a new contract are set to take place soon.

It was reported at the start of the season that Brandt would be limited to a bit-part role at Borussia Dortmund this season. But Edin Terzic has relied heavily on Brandt this season, and the playmaker has made the most of his opportunity.

Brandt has made 27 appearances for Borussia Dortmund this season and has seven goals and five assists to his name. He has been directly involved in a goal in five of BVB’s last six Bundesliga matches.

Julian Brandt has finally found the consistency that was missing from his game for a large part of his first three seasons at Borussia Dortmund. And if he keeps playing like he has done so far this season, he will no doubt be a crucial part of this BVB team for years to come.
