Jude Bellingham becomes youngest player to record 50 Bundesliga wins
Jude Bellingham became the youngest player in history to record 50 wins in the Bundesliga as he helped Borussia Dortmund beat Hertha Berlin 4-1 on Sunday.
Jude Bellingham broke another record on Sunday as he overtook Jamal Musiala to become the youngest player in the history of the Bundesliga to record 50 wins. The midfielder came off the bench against Hertha Berlin for his 81st Bundesliga appearance, and helped Borussia Dortmund claim a 4-1 win.
Bellingham has gone from strength to strength since joining Borussia Dortmund from hometown club Birmingham City in 2020. The 19 year old has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world, and is also BVB’s third captain.
Bellingham wasn’t the only Borussia Dortmund player to reach a landmark on Sunday. Mats Hummels made his 454th appearance for the Black and Yellows on Sunday and overtook Roman Weidenfeller to move up to second place on the club’s list of leading appearance makers.
Only former club captain and sporting director Michael Zorc (572) has made more appearances in a BVB shirt than Hummels.
Marco Reus also had an evening to remember as he scored for Borussia Dortmund with a stunning free-kick. The goal helped the BVB captain take his tally to 158 goals. He is now level with Manfred Burgsmüller on the club’s list of all-time top goalscorers.
More history was also made on Sunday as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin ended Matchday 21 level on points. According to Opta, three teams have not been level on points in the Bundesliga at this stage of the season since the introduction of the three points per win rule.
