According to various sources, Borussia Dortmund are pushing for the signing of Ramy Bensebaini from Borussia Mönchengladbach on a free transfer.

Borussia Dortmund are once again looking to plunder the ranks of Borussia Mönchengladbach to acquire yet another one of their players. According to multiple sources, the signing of Ramy Bensebaini continues to be one of the club’s top priorities, with the Algerian international tipped to join in the summer transfer window.

Bensebaini’s signing would be a good piece of business for Die Schwarzgelben. The club would be getting an experienced, Bundesliga player on a free transfer. He will most likely replace Raphaël Guerreiro, who looks set to leave on a free transfer of his own in the summer, barring any late offers the club may make to retain his services.

Late last year we looked at whether or not the Algerian international would be a good replacement for the outgoing Portuguese international, and statistically the numbers indeed favor Bensebaini defensively. He is also good value for non penalty goals when compared to players of a similar position in Europe’s top 5 leagues.

The addition of Bensebaini on a free transfer would allow Borussia Dortmund to focus on quite a few other areas that will need reinforcements come the summer. Midfield will likely be one of these areas with Mahmoud Dahoud set to leave BVB at the end of the season.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, no concrete agreement has been reached with the player as of yet, but Fabrizio Romano and RN both reinforced that the club are pushing to get the deal done and negotiations are indeed advanced. More information should arise in the coming weeks regarding just how close Dortmund are to getting the deal over the line.
