Borussia Dortmund are said to be in pole position to sign Daichi Kamada on a free transfer after holding talks with his agent on Wednesday.

Borussia Dortmund are looking to bolster their midfield ranks, and Daichi Kamada is one of the names on their list of targets. According to Sport1, BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl held talks with the midfielder’s agents on Wednesday during which he stated the club’s desire to sign him on a free transfer in the summer.

The report adds that Kamada can well imagine a move to Borussia Dortmund, and the Black and Yellows are in pole position for his signature.

The Japanese international’s current contract with Eintracht Frankfurt is set to expire at the end of the season. The Eagles have not yet given up hope of extending his contract, although the chances of him staying in Frankfurt are not very high.

A number of clubs from Spain and England are also interested in signing Daichi Kamada. But Sport1 claim that Borussia Dortmund are currently holding the best cards in the race for his signature.

Kamada has been one of Eintracht Frankfurt’s top performers over the last 18 months. He has 13 goals and five assists to his name in 30 appearances across all competitions so far this season.
