Julian Brandt determined to stay grounded as Borussia Dortmund continue winning run
Borussia Dortmund won their ninth game in a row on Saturday, but Julian Brandt knows that there is still a long way to go in the Bundesliga title race.
It has been a dream start to 2023 for Borussia Dortmund, who have won all nine of their matches so far since the turn of the year. The Black and Yellows continued their winning run by dispatching TSG Hoffenheim on Saturday. The narrow win helped them move to the top of the Bundesliga standings ahead of Bayern Munich’s clash against Union Berlin. But Julian Brandt is determined to ensure that they keep their feet on the ground.
The playmaker, who scored the winning goal against Hoffenheim, told Sky Sport after the game that they want to keep building on the momentum they have generated so far.
"“It wasn’t an easy game. We rode our luck. There were a lot of chances for both sides. We’re very happy to take the points with us. We’ve often lost games like this in the past – this is where we have made progress. We’re in a strong position right now. But we still have to keep going, because it can quickly be ruined.”“We’re taking the momentum with us and trying to keep riding the wave. Nevertheless, we have to keep our feet on the ground and remember that it’s still only February. There is a long way to go with plenty of hard work ahead of us.”"
Julian Brandt has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s top performers this season, and he has taken his performance to a whole new level since the winter break.
The 26 year old has found the back of the net in each of his last four appearances in the Bundesliga, and is now BVB’s leading scorer in the league this season. Not only that, he has also made huge strides in his all-round game.
Brandt said after the win over Hoffenheim that he is hugely benefiting from the support of his teammates on the pitch.
Borussia Dortmund’s next game will see them go up against RB Leipzig in what will arguably be their toughest test in the Bundesliga since the turn of the year.
