Silas Ostrzinski made a crucial save in the penalty shootout as the Borussia Dortmund U-19s got the better of Paris St. Germain in the UEFA Youth League round of 16.

Borussia Dortmund U-19s are through to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League for the second season in a row after beating Paris St. Germain in a dramatic round of 16 clash. The Black and Yellows won the penalty shootout 5-4 after the two sides could not be separated in normal time.

It was another inspired performance from the Borussia Dortmund U-19s, who were the underdogs going into the game. There wasn’t much to separate the two sides over the course of the 90 minutes. Paris St. Germain U-19s, who fielded a strong side featuring the likes of Ethan Mbappé and Ismaël Gharbi, took the lead in the 40th minute through Pascal Noha Lemina.

But their lead lasted for only two minutes, as talented winger Samuel Bamba dribbled his way past two PSG defenders before finding the bottom corner from close range.

PSG defender Vimoj Muntu Wa Mungu was then sent off in the 80th minute, but the Borussia Dortmund U-19s weren’t able to make the most of their advantage and find a late winner.

The game went to penalties and Mike Tullberg’s side scored from all five of their spot-kicks, before Silas Ostrzinski saved PSG striker Ilyes Housni’s penalty to help his side win the shootout.

Borussia Dortmund’s reward for their win over Paris St. Germain is a UEFA Youth League quarterfinal tie against the Hajduk Split U-19s. The Croatian side pulled off a shock win over Manchester City in their round of 16 tie, and will now travel to Dortmund for the quarterfinals. The quarterfinals of the UEFA Youth League will be played on March 14/15.
