Sebastien Haller has been named in the Ivory Coast squad for their upcoming AFCON qualifiers against Comoros.

Sebastien Haller could be in line for his first appearance for Ivory Coast since June 2022 after being called up by head coach Jean-Louis Gasset for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Comoros.

The Borussia Dortmund striker will look to help his national team find their form ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations. Ivory Coast will host the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations that will take place in January 2024, and have already qualified for the tournament as a result. They are currently top in Group H, having won one and drawn one of their two matches.

Ivory Coast will take on Comoros at home on March 24, before facing them again away from home five days later.

Haller’s return to the Ivory Coast squad is another incredible achievement for the striker who was diagnosed with testicular cancer soon after joining Borussia Dortmund from AFC Ajax in July.

The 28 year old had to undergo two surgeries and a chemotherapy treatment; and was forced to miss the first half of the season as a result. But he made remarkable progress and returned to competitive action with Borussia Dortmund in January. He has scored one goal and assisted another in 12 appearances for the Black and Yellows so far.
