Marius Wolf had a national team debut to remember on Saturday, as he delivered an assist to help Germany claim a 2-0 win over Peru.

Germany got their Euro 2024 preparations off to a strong start as they cruised to a 2-0 win over Peru in a friendly match on Saturday evening. A brace from Werder Bremen striker Niclas Füllkrug helped Hansi Flick’s side come out on top in Mainz.

Marius Wolf, Nico Schlotterbeck and Emre Can were all named in the Germany starting XI, with the Borussia Dortmund right-back making his senior national team debut.

Wolf delivered a strong performance at right-back on his debut and set up a number of chances for his teammates. He also delivered a peach of a cross into the box for Füllkrug, which the striker turned home for his second goal of the evening in the 33rd minute.

Nico Schlotterbeck also impressed and helped his side win a penalty in the second half. But Kai Havertz failed to add to Germany’s lead from the spot.

Germany still managed to secure a convincing win in their first game of 2023. Up next for them is a friendly against Belgium on Tuesday.

Julian Ryerson was also in action on Saturday evening. The Borussia Dortmund full-back came on in the 74th minute but wasn’t able to prevent the Erling Haaland-less Norway from suffering a 3-0 defeat to Spain in their opening Euro 2024 qualifier. Dani Olmo and Joselu (x2) were on target for Spain. Norway will also be in action on Tuesday, as they take on Georgia.
