Gio Reyna, Donyell Malen impress on international duty

Gio Reyna and Donyell Malen were both in action on Monday evening as the United States and Netherlands signed off for the international break with wins.
Gio Reyna retained his place in the USMNT starting XI as they went up against El Salvador on the final matchday of the Concacaf Nations League group stage. Fresh off their 7-1 win over Grenada, the United States were made to work much harder on Monday. But they still managed to claim a 1-0 win, with Augsburg striker Ricardo Pepi scoring the winning goal.
Reyna spent 72 minutes on the pitch and delivered another encouraging performance for his side. Playing through the middle, the 20 year old forced a good save from the El Salvador and also hit the post after an excellent run down the left flank.
Interim USMNT head coach Anthony Hudson was full of praise of Gio Reyna after the game, and said that he was pleased with his performances over the course of the training camp.
The win helped the United States qualify for the Concacaf Nations League Finals that will take place in June.
Donyell Malen came off the bench in the 46th minute as the Netherlands opened their Euro 2024 qualifying account with a 3-0 win over Gibraltar. The Borussia Dortmund forward caused a lot of problems to the Gibraltar defenders down the right wing, and created a couple of good chances for his teammates.
Memphis Depay and Nathan Aké were on target for the Netherlands, who recovered well from last week’s 4-0 defeat to France and earned a dominant win.
