Donyell Malen vs Alphonso Davies

Donyell Malen has been selected more frequently in recent weeks, with the injury list beginning to grow. Prior to the international break, he started to find his form and even earned a recall to the Netherlands squad. He goes into this weekend’s game having scored and assisted against Köln, and could earn a place in the starting XI on the right wing.

If Malen starts, he will go up directly against Alphonso Davies. The Canadian international’s speed will be an issue on the defensive end for BVB, as Malen will be tasked to track his forward runs.

However, Davies will also have his hands full as Malen will be looking to exploit the spaces he leaves behind. The Dutchman should look to create space for Marius Wolf, who will likely play as right-back, to make overlapping and underlapping runs.

Davies is a great athlete but Malen’s technical ability and dribbling skills could definitely cause the Bayern defence a lot of problems.
