Borussia Dortmund are on the verge of completing the signing of Ramy Bensebaini, with the left-back set to join on a free transfer in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund’s first signing ahead of the summer transfer window appears to be in the bag, with Sky Sport claiming that Ramy Bensebaini has already signed a long-term contract with the club.

The report claims that the Algerian international reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund a few days ago and will now join the club on a free transfer in the summer when his current contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach expires.

Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for Bensebaini over the last 12 months. He has always been their first choice to bolster their left-back ranks. And now it appears that Sebastian Kehl has got the signing over the line. It remains to be seen when the 27 year old’s move to BVB will become official.

Ramy Bensebaini is primarily a left-back. But he is also capable of playing as a centre-back in a back three and has a knack for scoring goals. He has made a total of 24 appearances for Gladbach so far this season, and has six goals to his name.

Bensebaini will likely become Borussia Dortmund’s first-choice left-back next season. Raphael Guerreiro has occupied the role since his move to BVB in 2016. But he has been used in midfield in recent games, and it looks like that is where his future may lie if he decides to extend his contract and stay with the Black and Yellows beyond the end of the season.
