Borussia Dortmund’s hopes of winning the DFB-Pokal were crushed on Wednesday evening as they suffered a 2-0 defeat away to RB Leipzig.

An abject performance resulted in a well deserved defeat for Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday, as they were sent crashing out of the DFB-Pokal after losing to RB Leipzig. The Black and Yellows were second best from the first whistle to the last, and Marco Rose’s side cruised to a rather comfortable win.

Still reeling from Saturday’s defeat to Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund made a woeful start and fell behind in the 22nd minute thanks to Timo Werner’s goal. Willi Orbán then sealed the win for the reigning DFB-Pokal champions in the 8th minute of stoppage time.

Borussia Dortmund had to wait until the 96th minute for their first shot on target. And they will feel bitterly disappointed, having let their best chance of winning a trophy this season slip through their hands.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 2-0 defeat to RB Leipzig.

Gregor Kobel (7/10)

Just days after his struggles against Bayern Munich, Gregor Kobel delivered an inspired performance between the sticks for Borussia Dortmund. Unfortunately for him, his teammates failed to step up in both matches.
